Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer with a strong Lean and Six Sigma focus for a hands-on role based in Benoni, Gauteng. You will analyze and improve manufacturing processes, drive efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure top quality across operations.

Key duties include leading DMAIC/Kaizen projects, optimizing layouts, and mentoring teams on continuous improvement. A Green/Black Belt certification and 5+ years' experience are required to excel in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Industrial Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
• Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is required.
• Proven experience applying Lean principles (5S, VSM, JIT) and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Proficiency in process mapping, data analysis, and Minitab.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production planning and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost.
• Design, develop, and implement Lean and Six Sigma projects (DMAIC, Kaizen events).
• Optimize factory layout, workflow, and material handling systems.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and establish performance metrics.
• Collaborate with production teams to implement process changes and ensure successful adoption.
• Train employees on Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
• Conduct time studies and work measurement analyses.
• Support new product introductions by optimizing manufacturing processes.
• Report on the progress and impact of continuous improvement initiatives.
