Placements24 is seeking a Lead UX/UI Designer in Benoni to drive end-to-end UX/UI initiatives for web and mobile apps. You will lead a design team, conduct user research, and translate insights into high-fidelity prototypes and visuals.

The role requires a strong portfolio, leadership experience, and expertise in design systems. You will collaborate with product managers and developers in an on-site setting to deliver intuitive and aesthetically pleasing digital products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, CS or related field or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a leading digital solutions provider based in Benoni, Gauteng , is looking for a talented and experienced Lead UX/UI Designer to spearhead their design initiatives. This is an on-site role, fostering a collaborative environment where creativity and innovation thrive. You will be responsible for the entire user experience and interface design process, from initial concept and user research to high-fidelity prototypes and final design implementation. The ideal candidate has a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional design skills, a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, and the ability to lead and mentor a design team. You will shape the digital products that our clients use daily, ensuring they are intuitive, engaging, and aesthetically pleasing. Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of user interfaces and user experiences for web and mobile applications. Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather insights into user needs and behaviors. Create wireframes, prototypes, mockups, and high-fidelity designs that effectively communicate interaction and visual design ideas. Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries to ensure consistency across products. Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into compelling user experiences. Mentor and guide junior UX/UI designers, fostering a culture of design excellence. Present design concepts and solutions to stakeholders, articulating design decisions and rationale. Stay current with the latest UX/UI trends, technologies, and best practices. Advocate for the user throughout the product development lifecycle. Ensure designs are technically feasible and align with development capabilities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 6 years of experience in UX/UI design, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior role. A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in user-centered design, interaction design, and visual design across multiple platforms. Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, or similar. Deep understanding of user research methodologies and usability testing. Experience in creating and managing design systems. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead and inspire a design team. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is beneficial. Experience working in an agile development environment.
