Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an innovative Lead UX/UI Designer to join their fully remote product development team, serving users in the Paarl region. The role focuses on guiding design strategy from concept to implementation, mentoring junior designers, and collaborating with product managers and engineers to create cohesive interfaces.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in UX/UI, a strong portfolio in user research, interaction and visual design, and proficiency with Figma, Sketch and Adobe XD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in design, HCI or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of UX/UI design experience, including senior/lead roles.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process for digital products, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity visual design.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across all platforms.
• Mentor and guide a team of UX/UI designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.
• Collaborate effectively with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to translate user needs and business requirements into compelling designs.
• Conduct user testing and usability studies to gather feedback and iterate on designs.
• Stay abreast of the latest UX/UI trends, best practices, and technologies to champion innovation within the design team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with a significant portion in a lead or senior role.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in user research, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
• Proven experience leading design projects and mentoring design teams.
• Excellent understanding of user-centered design principles, accessibility standards, and responsive design.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, crucial for remote collaboration supporting stakeholders in Paarl.
