Qualifications

• Matric certificate with passion for local history and culture.
• Tourism or guiding qualification is a significant advantage.
• 3–5 years of experience as a qualified tour guide with leadership potential.
• Valid Tour Guide license/certification relevant to the Western Cape region.
• In-depth knowledge of Paarl and surrounding areas.
• Excellent communication, storytelling, and public speaking skills.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of Afrikaans or Xhosa is desirable.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and mentor a team of tour guides, ensuring high performance and adherence to company standards.
• Conduct engaging and informative tours for various groups, showcasing local history, culture, and attractions.
• Develop and refine tour itineraries and routes to optimize the guest experience.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all tour participants, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
• Manage tour logistics, including scheduling, transportation coordination, and resource allocation.
• Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and issues professionally.
• Contribute to development of new tour products and experiences.
• Maintain equipment and ensure vehicles/transport are in safe working order.
• Liaise with local businesses, attractions, and stakeholders to enhance tour offerings.
• Assist in recruitment and onboarding of new tour guides.
