Job summary

Placements24 in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, seeks an experienced Adventure Tourism Guide to lead coastal hikes, kayaking, surfing lessons and wildlife tours. You will ensure client safety, provide engaging environmental commentary, and manage groups during exciting outdoor experiences.

Applicants should have First Aid/CPR certification, proficiency in adventure sports, strong communication skills, and a valid driver's license. This role offers growth in the South Africa tourism sector.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an adventure tour guide or in outdoor leadership.
• Extensive knowledge of Mossel Bay region, its attractions, history and wildlife.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR is mandatory; wilderness first aid is a plus.
• Proficiency in one or more adventure sports (kayaking, surfing, hiking, etc.).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and storytelling skills.
• Ability to remain calm and decisive in challenging situations.
• Genuine passion for the outdoors and sharing experiences.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and be comfortable driving different vehicles.
• Physical fitness and stamina for demanding activities.
• Must reside in or be able to commute to Mossel Bay, Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide clients on adventure activities including hiking, kayaking, coastal tours and wildlife spotting.
• Ensure safety and well-being of all clients following safety protocols.
• Provide engaging commentary and interpretation of local flora, fauna, history, and culture.
• Manage group dynamics to ensure a positive experience for all participants.
• Operate and maintain adventure equipment in safe working order.
• Conduct pre-activity briefings and post-activity debriefings with clients.
• Respond effectively to emergencies and administer first aid if necessary.
• Assist with booking and scheduling of tours and activities.
• Gather client feedback to improve service offerings.
• Promote responsible tourism and environmental conservation.
