Placements24 is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer in Cape Town to head design and execution of complex structural systems for high-rise and major commercial developments. You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with architects and clients, and ensure compliance with SA building codes and standards.

The role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, and hands-on experience with ETABS, SAP2000, and SAFE, as well as post-tensioned and steel structures.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with significant high-rise exposure.
• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Expertise in structural analysis software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE) and design codes (SANS).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage engineering teams and projects.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience with post-tensioned concrete and steel structures.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design process for high-rise buildings and complex projects.
• Develop and review structural analysis models and design calculations using advanced software.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of structural engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and consultants to integrate designs into project plans.
• Ensure designs comply with building codes and regulations in Cape Town and SA.
• Oversee preparation of detailed drawings, specifications and construction documents.
• Conduct site visits and supervise construction to ensure structural integrity.
• Manage deliverables, timelines and budgets for structural components.
• Present design proposals and reports to clients and stakeholders.
• Stay updated on latest advancements in structural engineering.
