Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer specializing in bridge design for a fully remote role. You will lead complex bridge projects from concept through construction oversight, applying advanced analysis, detailing design calculations, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has a Master's in Structural Engineering, PrEng registration, and at least 9 years in bridge design, with expertise in MIDAS Civil, CSiBridge or RM Bridge, seismic design, and strong

• PrEng registration with ECSA or equivalent.
• Minimum of 9 years of progressive experience specifically in bridge engineering design.
• Demonstrated experience leading the structural design of significant bridge projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of various bridge types, including concrete, steel, and composite structures.
• Perform advanced structural analysis and modeling using state-of-the-art software.
• Develop detailed design calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports for bridge projects.
• Oversee and guide junior engineers and design teams in the execution of bridge design tasks.
• Collaborate closely with clients, other engineering disciplines, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international bridge design codes and standards (e.g., SANS, AASHTO).
• Conduct peer reviews and quality assurance checks on structural designs.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for structural engineering components.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing design queries and site challenges.
