Placements24 is seeking a talented Sous Chef for an acclaimed restaurant in Upington, Northern Cape. You will support the Head Chef, oversee daily kitchen operations, mentor staff, and ensure top-quality dishes and presentation.

This role requires strong leadership, culinary expertise, and the ability to work under pressure. It involves menu development collaboration, cost control, and flexible shifts including evenings and weekends within a prestigious culinary team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar senior role in a professional kitchen.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Proficiency in food safety and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including staff and inventory.
• Supervise kitchen brigade to ensure smooth service.
• Prepare and cook high-quality dishes following recipes and standards.
• Oversee inventory, stock control, and ordering of supplies.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation and health compliance.
• Participate in menu development and daily specials.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
• Monitor food quality and adjust as needed.
• Control food costs through waste reduction and inventory management.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment.
