About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing force in the renewable energy sector, is seeking an experienced Lead Solar PV Project Manager to oversee the development and execution of solar photovoltaic projects across the region. This role, based in Polokwane, Limpopo , will be responsible for managing all phases of project development, from initial feasibility studies and site acquisition to engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and commissioning. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This hybrid position allows for strategic remote planning while maintaining essential on-site presence in Polokwane for project oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of solar PV projects, including site selection, permitting, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Develop project plans, budgets, and schedules, and monitor progress against milestones.
• Lead and coordinate EPC contractors, engineering consultants, and other project stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and environmental standards.
• Identify and manage project risks, developing mitigation strategies.
• Oversee procurement activities, including equipment sourcing and contract negotiation.
• Manage project finances, including cash flow forecasting and budget control.
• Foster strong relationships with clients, investors, and local communities.
• Ensure the health, safety, and environmental performance of all project activities.
• Report project status, issues, and risks to senior management regularly.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years focused on solar PV projects.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering utility-scale and/or commercial solar PV projects.
• In-depth knowledge of solar PV technology, design principles, and construction methodologies.
• Strong understanding of project finance, contracting, and permitting processes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with hybrid work models and the ability to manage distributed teams.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Familiarity with the regulatory and market landscape in Limpopo and broader South Africa.
