Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Lead Quantity Surveyor based in Centurion to manage all costs from initial estimates to final accounts. You will ensure projects stay within budget, advise on contracts, tendering, and risk management, and lead cost control for major projects.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Quantity Surveying, SACQSP accreditation is a plus, and at least seven years of experience in construction cost surveying.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or related field required.
• Professional qualification such as SACQSP is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bills of quantities, cost estimates, and tender documentation.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Lead Quantity Surveyor to join their established construction company based in Centurion, Gauteng . In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing all costs relating to construction projects, from initial calculations to final figures. You will ensure that projects are completed within budget by controlling costs, and providing advice on contracts, tendering, and risk management. The ideal candidate is meticulous, has a strong commercial acumen, and possesses exceptional negotiation skills to optimize project profitability while maintaining project scope and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare bills of quantities, cost estimates, and tender documentation for construction projects.
• Manage the tendering process, evaluating bids and negotiating with contractors and suppliers.
• Monitor project expenditures and cash flow, identifying and mitigating financial risks.
• Administer construction contracts, including variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and verify work completed for payment purposes.
• Provide expert advice on cost-saving measures and value engineering opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as SACQSP registration is advantageous.
