Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Quantitative Analyst for a cutting-edge fintech client, initially based in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, with flexible remote work. This senior contractor role involves building advanced pricing, risk, and algorithmic trading models, and deploying them with traders and engineers.

You will mentor junior quants, drive innovation, validate models, back-test rigorously, and stay abreast of academic research and industry best practices in quantitative finance.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Financial Engineering.
• 5+ years as a Quantitative Analyst in finance (investment banking, hedge funds, asset management or fintech).
• Strong programming and production deployment experience.
• Excellent understanding of financial markets, trading strategies, and risk management principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement complex quantitative models for financial markets (e.g., derivatives pricing, risk analytics, algorithmic trading).
• Validate and back-test model performance rigorously.
• Collaborate with software engineers to deploy models into production systems.
• Conduct research into new quantitative techniques and financial instruments.
• Mentor and guide junior quantitative analysts.
• Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and insights for trading strategies.
• Present complex findings and model specifications to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay current with academic research and industry best practices in quantitative finance.
