Placements24 is recruiting an Executive Pastry Chef for a prestigious luxury hotel and event venue in East London, Eastern Cape. The role leads pastry and bakery operations, crafting exquisite desserts, pastries, breads, and other baked goods for restaurants, banquets, and events.

The candidate will develop innovative menus, maintain the highest standards of quality and presentation, and manage a dedicated pastry team to elevate culinary offerings for guests in this coastal city.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in pastry and baking, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or Executive Pastry Chef role within a luxury hotel, fine dining restaurant, or high‑end catering establishment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of the pastry and bakery department, ensuring exceptional quality and creativity.
• Develop and design innovative pastry menus, seasonal specials, and customized desserts for all outlets and events.
• Oversee the production of high-quality baked goods, including breads, pastries, cakes, chocolates, and desserts.
• Manage and train a team of pastry chefs and bakers, fostering a collaborative and skilled environment.
• Control pastry ingredient costs, manage inventory, and ensure efficient utilization of resources.
• Maintain rigorous standards of hygiene, sanitation, and food safety within the pastry kitchen.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and other culinary leaders on menu planning and event execution.
• Ensure consistent presentation and quality of all pastry items.
• Stay abreast of the latest trends and techniques in pastry arts and incorporate them into the offerings.
• Manage pastry kitchen equipment, supplies, and maintenance schedules.
