Placements24 seeks a Senior Farm Manager to lead a large mixed‑farm operation near Randburg, Gauteng. This hybrid role combines field leadership with admin oversight, ensuring efficient crop and livestock production and profitability.

You will plan farming activities, supervise staff, manage budgets, liaise with suppliers, and uphold safety and environmental standards. A degree or diploma in agriculture and 6+ years of farm management experience are required.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in farm management, with strong background in mixed agriculture.
• Proven experience in managing diverse teams of farm workers.
• Comprehensive knowledge of crop production techniques and livestock management principles.
• Experience with farm machinery, irrigation systems, and basic maintenance.
• Strong understanding of financial management and budgeting for agricultural operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing field responsibilities with administrative tasks.
• Familiarity with South African agricultural practices and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license is essential.

Responsabilités

• Oversee all aspects of mixed‑farm operations, including crop production and livestock management.
• Develop and implement annual farm plans, including crop rotation, planting schedules, and livestock breeding programs.
• Manage farm staff, providing training, guidance, and performance supervision.
• Ensure efficient use of resources, including water, fertilizers, pesticides, and feed.
• Monitor crop health and yields, implementing appropriate management strategies to maximize productivity.
• Manage livestock health, welfare, and productivity, coordinating with veterinary services as needed.
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of farm machinery, equipment, and infrastructure.
• Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies on the farm.
• Manage farm budgets, track expenses, and contribute to financial planning.
• Maintain detailed farm records and prepare regular reports on operations and performance.
• Stay updated on agricultural best practices, technologies, and market trends.
• Liaise with suppliers, buyers, and other external stakeholders.
