Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Mine Maintenance Supervisor to manage maintenance and repair of heavy equipment at our operations near Mahikeng, North West. You will lead a team of mechanics and technicians, overseeing preventative and corrective maintenance to maximize fleet availability and uptime.

The role requires a trade qualification, 6+ years in heavy equipment maintenance with 2+ in supervision, and demonstrated experience with Caterpillar and Komatsu.

Qualifications

• Trade Qualification or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 years in heavy equipment maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience with large-scale mining or construction equipment (Caterpillar, Komatsu).
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical repair of heavy machinery.
• Knowledge of fleet management systems and maintenance software.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, assigning tasks and ensuring timely completion of work orders.
• Implement and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all heavy mining equipment, including haul trucks, excavators, and drills.
• Oversee diagnostic procedures and ensure efficient and effective repair of equipment failures.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and equipment history.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the maintenance workshop and operational areas.
• Train and mentor maintenance staff, fostering a culture of safety, skill development, and continuous improvement in equipment maintenance.
