Placements24 is seeking a Lead Maintenance Engineer to oversee all maintenance operations at our Rustenburg facility. You will lead a team of technicians and engineers, drive preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensure uptime and safety across heavy industrial equipment.

The role requires a Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering degree with 8+ years in industrial maintenance, including 3+ years in leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 8+ years in industrial maintenance with 3+ years in leadership or supervision.
• Experience with heavy industrial machinery (crushers, conveyors, mills, mobile equipment).
• Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, and CMMS.
• Proven leadership and ability to motivate a technical team.
• Excellent understanding of maintenance best practices including condition monitoring and RCM.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis techniques.
• Strong financial acumen and experience managing department budgets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Rustenburg area.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all plant equipment.
• Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians and engineers.
• Oversee planning and execution of maintenance activities with minimal production disruption.
• Conduct RCA for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Manage maintenance budgets including labor, parts, and contractors.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment history.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with production and engineering to optimize reliability.
• Evaluate and implement new maintenance technologies and methodologies.
• Participate in capital expenditure projects for replacements and upgrades.
