Placements24 in George, Western Cape, seeks a Lead Industrial Maintenance Engineer to oversee all maintenance operations for a major manufacturing facility. You will develop preventive maintenance programs, lead a team of technicians, and maximize uptime and safety across production equipment.

The role requires a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree, 7+ years in industrial maintenance with leadership exposure, strong CMMS experience, and a proactive problem-solver mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in industrial maintenance with supervisory/leadership exposure.
• Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, automation, PLCs, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Proven ability to implement predictive and preventive maintenance.
• Solid safety training: lockout/tagout, risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage preventive/predictive maintenance schedules for all plant equipment.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise maintenance technicians and reviews.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic issues across machinery.
• Oversee installation, commissioning and decommissioning of equipment.
• Manage spare parts inventory and optimize costs.
• Collaborate with production to reduce bottlenecks and downtime.
• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental policies and standards.
• Analyze maintenance data for trends and improvements.
• Oversee external contractors for specialized maintenance tasks.
