Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture or a related field with a specialization in sustainable design.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in architectural practice, with a significant focus on sustainable design.
• Demonstrated experience leading sustainable design initiatives on complex projects.
• Proficiency in sustainability assessment tools and software (e.g., energy modeling software, LCA tools).
• In-depth knowledge of green building certifications and standards.
• Strong understanding of building science, passive design strategies, and renewable energy systems.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Experience with South African building codes and environmental regulations is advantageous.
• Portfolio showcasing successful sustainable design projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sustainable design strategies and frameworks for all projects.
• Lead the integration of green building principles, including energy efficiency, water conservation, and material selection.
• Conduct sustainability assessments, life cycle analyses (LCAs), and environmental impact studies.
• Collaborate with project teams, consultants, and clients to ensure sustainability goals are met and certified (e.g., LEED, Green Star).
• Research and recommend innovative sustainable technologies, materials, and construction methods.
• Provide expert advice and technical support on sustainable design issues throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior architects and designers on sustainable design practices.
• Prepare sustainability reports and presentations for clients and regulatory bodies.
• Stay current with the latest trends, regulations, and research in sustainable architecture and green building.
