Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a leadership role in Bloemfontein, South Africa, focusing on renewable energy projects in solar and wind. You will drive electrical design, grid interconnection studies, and commissioning, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 7+ years in electrical engineering with 3+ years in renewables, proficiency in power system analysis tools, and PE registration is a strong advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in electrical engineering, with 3+ years in renewables.
• Experience with power system analysis tools.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for utility-scale solar PV and wind projects.
• Conduct grid interconnection studies and reliability analyses.
• Develop electrical single-line diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications for power plants.
• Select and specify balance-of-plant equipment including inverters, transformers, switchgear and cabling.
• Oversee the electrical aspects of project execution from feasibility through commissioning.
• Ensure designs comply with IEC, IEEE, NRS and safety standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and stay updated on renewable energy grid integration practices.
