Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to spearhead electrical design for solar, wind and hybrid projects. This fully remote role enables you to lead a global team from your home office, shaping the technical direction of renewable energy installations.

You will develop detailed schematics, perform load-flow and protection studies, specify major equipment, mentor engineers, and ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE and NEC standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• 10+ years progressive experience in electrical design, with at least 5 years in renewable energy (solar/wind).
• Proven leadership of design teams and complex projects.
• Pr. Eng. registration is required.
• Familiarity with IEC/IEEE/NEC standards and grid interconnection requirements.
• Experience with power system analysis software (PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD).
• Knowledge of energy storage systems (BESS) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and engineering of utility-scale and distributed renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical design, with at least 5 years focused on renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
• Demonstrated experience leading design teams and managing complex electrical engineering projects.
• Expertise in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD).
• In-depth knowledge of grid interconnection standards and requirements.
• Familiarity with energy storage systems (BESS) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEC).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration is required.
• Ability to thrive in a fully remote work environment, demonstrating self-discipline and proactive communication.
