Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to establish and manage DevOps practices. This remote role, with an operational hub near Kimberley, Northern Cape, focuses on scalable, secure cloud infrastructure and automated deployment pipelines.

The ideal candidate will have 6+ years in DevOps/SRE, strong Kubernetes and IaC skills, and a proven track record implementing CI/CD with AWS/Azure/GCP. Collaborate cross-functionally to raise deployment standards and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/IT or related field.
• 6+ years in DevOps, SRE, or systems administration roles.
• Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Extensive cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) and IaC (Terraform, Ansible).
• Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Understanding networking principles and security best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lead and collaborate.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, tests, and deployments.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) for performance, cost, and security.
• Implement and manage Docker and Kubernetes-based containerization.
• Establish monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for uptime and health.
• Collaborate with software teams to ensure smooth releases.
• Define and enforce security best practices across infra and deployments.
• Automate operational tasks to improve efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and deployment issues.
