Placements24 is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team in a hybrid role based in Soweto, Gauteng. You will design and scale cloud infrastructure, automate deployment pipelines, and drive security practices across platforms.

You will collaborate closely with development and operations to improve the software delivery lifecycle, leveraging Terraform/Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and popular CI/CD tools in a fast-growing SaaS environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional DevOps experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Hands-on with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef or Puppet.
• Scripting in Bash, Python or PowerShell.
• Strong networking, security and sysadmin fundamentals.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding SaaS company, is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior DevOps Engineer to join their engineering team. This hybrid role, based in our Soweto, Gauteng office, will be instrumental in building, automating, and scaling our cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), CI/CD tools, containerization, and infrastructure as code. You will work closely with development and operations teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our services. We are looking for a problem-solver with a passion for automation, continuous integration, and fostering a culture of collaboration between development and operations. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage robust CI/CD pipelines for automated building, testing, and deployment of applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in DevOps or a related role (e.g., Systems Administration, Software Engineering with a focus on infrastructure).
• Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Solid understanding of networking, security, and system administration principles.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
