Placements24 is seeking a Lead Custodial Operations Manager in Cape Town, Western Cape, to oversee daily custodial operations across client facilities and lead a team of cleaning professionals to deliver outstanding service quality.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in custodial, facilities, or cleaning operations, with at least two in a supervisory role.
• Proven leadership to manage large teams and drive development.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and safety regulations.
• Experience developing and implementing operating plans and quality control procedures.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities with multi-priority handling.
• Excellent communication and client relations skills.
• Proficiency with scheduling, inventory, and reporting software.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Cape Town metro.
• Facility Management or Business Administration qualification is advantageous.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent provider of commercial cleaning and facility services in Cape Town, Western Cape , is looking for a dynamic and experienced Lead Custodial Operations Manager. This position is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and operational excellence across a range of prestigious client sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing a team of cleaning professionals, and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance service delivery and client satisfaction. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong understanding of industry best practices, innovative cleaning solutions, and a commitment to employee development. You will play a key role in shaping the operational strategy and maintaining the reputation of our client as a leader in the Western Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage daily custodial operations across designated client facilities in Cape Town , ensuring optimal efficiency and quality.
• Supervise, train, and mentor a team of cleaning staff, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and enforce strict cleaning protocols, safety guidelines, and sanitation standards in line with industry regulations and client requirements.
• Conduct regular inspections and performance evaluations of cleaning teams and facilities to identify and address any deficiencies.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and machinery, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper maintenance.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their specific needs and ensure service delivery meets or exceeds expectations.
• Implement and promote sustainable cleaning practices and technologies to minimize environmental impact.
• Prepare operational reports, including performance metrics, staff productivity, and budget adherence for management review.
• Act as a primary point of contact for operational issues, resolving them effectively and efficiently.

Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in custodial services, facility management, or cleaning operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with a proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop large teams.
• Comprehensive knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, equipment, and relevant health and safety regulations.
• Experience in developing and implementing operational plans and quality control procedures.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and staff.
• Proficiency in relevant software for scheduling, inventory, and reporting.
• A valid driver's license and the ability to travel within the Cape Town metropolitan area are required.
• A qualification in Facility Management, Business Administration, or a related field is advantageous.
