Job summary

The President Hotel in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Head Bartender to lead our hotel bar team with confidence, creativity and service excellence. You will be responsible for premium cocktail preparation, staff leadership and driving guest satisfaction in a fast-paced luxury setting.

Minimum 3 years in a Head Bartender, Senior Bartender or Bar Supervisor role within 4- or 5-star venues. Strong knowledge of cocktails, beverages, stock control and guest engagement is essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, premium spirits, wines and current beverage trends.
• Strong mixology skills with a passion for quality, consistency and presentation.
• Experience leading a bar team and coaching staff.
• Proven ability to manage stock levels, beverage costing, ordering and stock rotation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily operation of the hotel bar with a focus on delivering consistently exceptional guest experiences.
• Lead by example and maintain a visible, hands-on presence behind the bar during service.
• Prepare and serve premium cocktails, wines and spirits to the highest standards.
• Coach, motivate and develop the bar team to drive beverage sales and guest satisfaction.
• Ensure recipes, presentation standards and service procedures are followed across shifts.
• Maintain bar presentation, cleanliness and service standards throughout every shift.
• Assist with beverage menu development, cocktail innovation and seasonal promotions.
• Monitor stock levels, ordering, counts and wastage to control costs.
