Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a Senior Aircraft Electrical Systems Engineer for a facility in Klerksdorp, North West. The role focuses on design, development, testing, and troubleshooting of complex electrical systems for aircraft, with emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

You will lead system modifications, perform analyses, prepare drawings and specifications, and collaborate with avionics, mechanical, and software teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years in aircraft electrical systems design, analysis, or maintenance.
• Proven expertise in aircraft power generation, distribution, and control systems.
• Familiarity with avionics integration, data buses (ARINC 429, ARINC 664), MIL-STD-1553.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
• Strong understanding of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) principles.
• Knowledge of relevant aviation standards and regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities.
• Experience in Klerksdorp, North West or similar industrial environment is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement modifications to existing aircraft electrical systems and power distribution networks.
• Perform detailed analysis and troubleshooting of electrical system malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and system specifications.
• Conduct system integration testing and validation to ensure functionality and compliance with requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including avionics, mechanical, and software engineers, on system design and integration.
• Ensure all designs and modifications comply with relevant aviation regulations and standards (e.g., SACAA, EASA, FAA).
• Manage project timelines and resources for electrical system upgrade projects.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior electrical engineers and technicians.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in aircraft electrical systems.
• Participate in safety reviews and hazard analyses related to electrical systems.
