Job summary

IQVIA Client Company in Johannesburg and Durban is seeking an experienced Medical Sales Representative to drive sales of surgical instruments and consumables. The role combines relationship management, clinical support and operational coordination within hospital and theatre environments.

The ideal candidate will have medical sales experience, strong commercial acumen, and a valid SA driver’s licence with access to a vehicle. Relocation within SA to Johannesburg or Durban may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have medical, healthcare, clinical, or hospital sales experience.
• Grade 12 / Matric required; nursing qualification preferred.
• Valid South African driver’s licence and own vehicle to travel between sites.
• Willingness to relocate to Johannesburg or Durban where required.

Responsibilities

• Promote and sell surgical instruments and consumables to hospitals and theatre teams.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers; identify new opportunities.
• Provide product and technical support during procedures in theatre environments.
• Coordinate delivery, collection and stock management of instrument sets.
• Maintain inventory records and stock management processes.
• Assist with case billing and hospital procurement communications.
• Participate in after-hours and emergency surgical support as needed.
• Prepare activity, sales and business development reports.

**About the Opportunity**
Our client company is a leading supplier of specialised medical devices, surgical instruments, and consumables to both private and public healthcare facilities. The organisation supports surgeons and theatre teams through the supply, management, and technical support of surgical products used in specialist procedures.
We are seeking experienced and driven Medical Sales Representatives to join the team in Johannesburg and Durban. This role combines sales, relationship management, clinical support, and operational coordination within hospital and theatre environments.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Promote and sell surgical instruments and consumables to hospitals, theatre managers, procurement teams, and specialist surgeons.
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying new business opportunities.
+ Provide product and technical support during surgical procedures within theatre environments.
+ Coordinate the delivery, collection, and management of instrument sets and consumable stock.
+ Maintain accurate inventory records and stock management processes.
+ Ensure accurate case billing by capturing product usage, applying appropriate NAPPI codes, and completing required documentation.
+ Liaise with hospital procurement and billing departments regarding purchase orders, claims, and queries.
+ Participate in after-hours and emergency surgical support on a standby basis.
+ Prepare and submit regular activity, sales, and business development reports.
**Essential Requirements**
**Required Skills & Experience**
+ Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
+ Previous experience within a medical, healthcare, clinical, or hospital environment.
+ Proven sales experience within hospitals, ideally involving medical devices, surgical instruments, or consumables.
+ Strong commercial awareness and business development capabilities.
+ Working knowledge of hospital billing processes and NAPPI codes.
+ Experience managing surgical instrument and consumable inventory.
+ Comfortable working within operating theatre environments.
+ Ability and willingness to participate in after-hours and emergency support.
+ Valid South African driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
+ Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Johannesburg or Durban.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Nursing qualification or theatre-related clinical experience.
+ Established relationships with surgeons, theatre managers, or hospital procurement teams.
+ Experience working with private hospital groups and healthcare networks.
+ Knowledge of cranial, spinal, maxillofacial, or other specialised surgical procedures.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
