Job summary

Placements24, based in Benoni, is seeking a motivated Junior Procurement Officer to join their logistics team. This role offers hands-on exposure to sourcing, purchasing, supplier management, and cost control in a dynamic environment.

You will assist in sourcing new suppliers, processing purchase orders, maintaining supplier data, monitoring deliveries, and supporting contract administration under the procurement manager.

Qualifications

• Degree in supply chain, logistics, or related field.
• 0–2 years procurement/purchasing/administrative experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in sourcing new suppliers and obtaining quotations.
• Process purchase orders accurately and efficiently through the procurement system.
• Maintain and update supplier information and product databases.
• Monitor order status and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.
• Verify invoices against purchase orders and delivery notes for accuracy.
• Liaise with internal departments to understand procurement needs and provide updates.
• Support the procurement manager in contract administration and negotiation processes.
• Conduct basic market research to identify potential cost savings.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels for operational supplies in Benoni.
