Job summary

takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is seeking a Junior Payroll Officer to join the Cape Town team. The role reports to the Payroll Manager and includes data processing, time & attendance, statutory calculations, queries, reporting and maintaining employee records.

The ideal candidate has a tertiary qualification in Business Management or HR, 1–2 years in payroll administration, experience with time and attendance systems, and knowledge of BCEA, UIF, SDA, PAYE, and WCA.

Qualifications

• Teritary qualification in Business Management or HR Diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years’ experience in an HR admin role with payroll administration exposure.
• Experience with time and attendance systems is required.
• Knowledge of South African legislation (BCEA, UIF, SDA, PAYE, WCA).

Responsibilities

• Data Processing: capture hires, banking details, salary changes, and terminations within SLA deadlines.
• Time & Attendance: verify overtime and track leave such as annual and sick leave.
• Statutory Calculations: assist with UIF, PAYE and other statutory filings.
• Query Resolution: handle payroll questions from employees and managers.
• Reporting: support month-end reconciliations and payroll reporting tasks.
• Employee Documentation: maintain and file payroll records and changes promptly.
• Payroll Projects: contribute to payroll-related projects as needed.
• Benefits: assist with management and implementation of payroll-related benefits.
