takealot.com in Cape Town is seeking a Junior Payroll Officer to join our team. You will capture new hires, banking details, salary changes, and terminations, while ensuring timely payroll processing and compliance.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years in HR payroll admin, experience with time and attendance, and knowledge of South African legislation (UIF, PAYE, BCEA). We offer a market-related package and a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with time and attendance systems.
  • Familiar with South African legislation (BCEA, UIF, SDA, PAYE, WCA).

Responsibilities

  • Data Processing: Capture new hires, banking details, salary changes, and terminations into payroll systems.
  • Time & Attendance: Verify overtime and track leave.
  • Statutory Calculations: Assist with deductions and filings like UIF and PAYE.
  • Query Resolution: Handle payroll questions from employees and managers.
  • Reporting: Support month-end reconciliations and reporting tasks.
  • Employee Documentation: Maintain and file payroll records; update changes timely.
  • Payroll Projects: Contribute to payroll projects as required.
  • Benefits: Assist with benefits management related to payroll.

The position reports to the Payroll Manager.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Data Processing: Capture new hires, banking details, salary changes, and terminations into the payroll systems within agreed SLA deadlines. Processing of Termination documentation as required.
  • Time & Attendance: Verify employee overtime, and track annual, sick, or family responsibility leave etc
  • Statutory Calculations: Assist with calculations for statutory deductions and filings like UIF and PAYE.
  • Query Resolution: Handle routine internal and external payroll questions from employees and managers.
  • Reporting: Support month-end reconciliations and reporting tasks
  • Employee Documentation: Ensure that all payroll documentation is filed. Establishing/maintaining employee records; ensuring that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis.
  • Payroll Projects: Contribute to Payroll projects when required
  • Benefits: Assist with the management and implementation of benefits in relation to payroll.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Teritary qualification Businesss Management / Human Resources Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 – 2 years’ experience in an HR admin role with specific experience in a payrolladministration environment
  • Experience with time and attendance systems is required
  • Experience working on ESS Knowledge of relevant, South African legislation (BCEA, UIF, SDA, PAYE, WCA)
