Job summary

Cape Union Mart Group is seeking a meticulous Payroll Administrator to join our Human Capital team. The role covers end-to-end payroll for multiple business units, ensuring accurate, confidential processing and timely reporting.

You will collaborate with HR, handle payroll queries, and support month-end and statutory submissions, including Stats SA. Ideal candidates will have 4+ years of payroll experience, familiarity with Payspace (Deel), and solid Excel skills.

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of payroll experience in a payroll role.
  • Experience with Payspace (Deel) is preferred; SAGE exposure is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end payroll processing for multiple business units within deadlines.
  • Ensure wage and salary calculations are accurate and compliant.
  • Work with HR to maintain accurate employee data.
  • Respond to payroll queries with clarity and professionalism.
  • Complete monthly reconciliations and prepare payroll-related reports.
  • Support month-end processes and statutory submissions including Stats SA.
  • Identify ways to improve accuracy and efficiency in payroll processes.

Job description

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the accurate, confidential, and timely processing of payroll across our growing group, supporting our mission to enable adventure and inspire our people.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-end payroll processing for multiple business units within deadlines
  • Ensuring wage and salary calculations are accurate and compliant
  • Working closely with HR to maintain current and accurate employee data
  • Responding to payroll queries with empathy, clarity, and professionalism
  • Completing monthly reconciliations and preparing payroll-related reports
  • Supporting month-end processes and statutory submissions, including Stats SA reporting
  • Continuously identifying ways to improve accuracy and efficiency in the payroll process
Requirements & Skills
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a payroll role
  • Experience with Payspace (Deel) is preferred (SAGE exposure beneficial)
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Solid understanding of South African payroll legislation and statutory requirements are essential
  • Previous experience working with Botswana and Namibian legislation will be highly advantageous
  • Previous experience and knowledge of retail/manufacturing environment will be beneficial
  • Bookkeeping experience is advantageous
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Discretion and integrity when working with confidential information
