Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join the Port Elizabeth team. You will contribute to the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems, working with senior engineers and production teams.

The ideal candidate has a relevant mechanical engineering degree and up to 3 years of internship experience, with basic CAD skills (AutoCAD/SolidWorks). This is an entry-level role with opportunities for training, development, and exposure to diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) is required.
• 0–3 years of relevant internship or entry-level mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software; familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of mechanical parts, sub-assemblies, and systems using CAD software.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and analyses to support design decisions.
• Create technical drawings, specifications, and documentation with guidance.
• Support testing and validation of prototypes and production units.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot issues and drive improvements.
• Maintain project records and contribute to technical reports.
