About the Role
YesPlay is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior IT Support Technician to join our Cape Town office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working with Linux systems, and wants to develop a career in IT Operations and DevOps.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day IT support, maintain company systems, assist with network security, and receive training in DevOps processes and deployment procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Google Workspace user accounts.
- Manage and maintain the company's NextDNS security and DNS filtering platform.
- Install, configure, and maintain Ubuntu Linux workstations.
- Configure and maintain workstation firewalls and basic security settings.
- Provide first-line technical support for desktop, hardware, printer, and network-related issues.
- Troubleshoot basic LAN, Wi‑Fi, and connectivity problems.
- Monitor network security and report suspicious activity.
- Maintain IT inventory and assist with workstation deployments.
- Assist with software installation, upgrades, and system maintenance.
- Learn and assist with DevOps-related tasks, including:
- Server administration
- Data restoration procedures
- Infrastructure monitoring
- Follow company security policies and IT best practices.
- Document technical procedures and completed support work.
- Diploma, Certificate, or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of Linux (Ubuntu preferred).
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Wi‑Fi).
- Familiarity with Google Workspace is advantageous.
- Understanding of firewalls or network security concepts is advantageous.
- Basic scripting knowledge (Bash or Python) is beneficial but not required.
- A valid South African driver's licence is advantageous.
