Job summary

Maree & Co Incorporated invites applications for a junior conveyancer / property attorney role in Durbanville, Cape Town. The firm offers exposure to commercial transactions, renewables projects, property development and corporate law within a hybrid, full-time structure.

You will work directly with the director, handling conveyancing, property and related commercial matters, from instruction through to registration, with room to grow in a dynamic, client-focused practice.

Qualifications

• Must be an admitted attorney of the High Court of SA or currently completing conveyancing examinations.
• Experience 0–3 years post-admission is typical.
• Interest in property transfers, conveyancing and broader commercial transactions.

Responsibilities

• Assist across conveyancing, property and commercial matters under supervision.
• Handle property transfers and due diligence tasks.
• Engage with clients, estate agents, banks and other attorneys.
• Support notarial work and drafting/reviewing property agreements.
• Manage conveyancing matters from instruction to registration.
• Contribute to broader corporate/commercial work when appropriate.

Maree & Co Incorporated is looking for a Junior Conveyancer / Property Attorney to join its growing practice.

This role would suit someone who enjoys conveyancing and property law, but who also wants broader exposure to commercial transactions, renewable energy projects, property development and corporate and commercial legal work.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work directly with the director and will assist across a broad range of conveyancing, property and commercial matters, including:

• property transfers;
• property-related work on renewable energy projects, including land rights, land agreements, negotiation, execution, validation and due diligence;
• servitudes and other property-related transactions;
• notarial work;
• drafting and reviewing property agreements;
• liaising with clients, estate agents, banks, municipalities and other attorneys;
• managing conveyancing matters from instruction through to registration;
• assisting with property-related due diligence and commercial transactions; and
• where appropriate, assisting with corporate and commercial legal work.

This is not intended to be a purely administrative conveyancing role. We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, takes ownership of matters and wants to develop into a well-rounded transactional attorney.

Who Are You?

You are:

• an Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa;
• an admitted Conveyancer, or currently completing the conveyancing examinations;
• ideally newly admitted or with approximately 0–3 years' post-admission experience;
• experienced in, or genuinely interested in, property transfers and conveyancing;
• commercially minded and comfortable understanding the broader transaction behind the conveyancing process;
• proactive, organised and able to manage matters independently;
• a strong communicator who is comfortable dealing directly with clients and other stakeholders;
• detail-oriented and able to work accurately under pressure; and
• ambitious, entrepreneurial and keen to grow with a young legal practice.
