Job summary

Itonga Resourcing is seeking an experienced Senior Conveyancing Attorney / Conveyancer to join a professional property law environment. You will manage property transfers from instruction through to Deeds Office registration and draft conveyancing documents.

The ideal candidate will have a strong career in conveyancing, with hands-on experience handling residential transfers, sectional title transfers, and related duties. This full-time, permanent role is based in South Africa.

Qualifications

• LLB or equivalent and admission as an attorney.
• Minimum 5 years post-admission experience in conveyancing.
• 3–4 years hands-on conveyancing experience.
• Strong end-to-end property transfer experience.
• Practical Deeds Office lodgement and registration experience.
• Experience with Transfer Duty and Rates Clearance Certificates.

Responsibilities

• Manage property transfers from instruction through to registration.
• Draft and review transfer and conveyancing documentation.
• Handle residential and sectional title transfers.
• Prepare matters for Deeds Office lodgement and registration.
• Coordinate linked transactions and liaise with banks, agents, and attorneys.
• Provide regular client progress reports and attend to final accounts.
• Ensure files are accurate and compliant throughout the process.

Introduction

Itonga Resourcing is looking for an experienced Senior Conveyancing Attorney / Conveyancer to join a professional property law environment.

We are looking for a high-calibre conveyancing professional with proven, hands-on experience managing property transactions from instruction through to Deeds Office registration.

This opportunity is specifically suited to an attorney who has built a strong career in conveyancing and property transfers, rather than a general attorney with limited exposure to property matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage property transfers from instruction through to registration
• Draft and review transfer and conveyancing documentation
• Handle residential property transfers
• Attend to sectional title transfers
• Manage deceased estate property transfers
• Handle divorce-related property transfers
• Prepare matters for Deeds Office lodgement and registration
• Attend to Transfer Duty requirements
• Manage Rates Clearance Certificates
• Coordinate simultaneous / linked transactions
• Liaise with sellers, purchasers, estate agents, banks, bond originators and attorneys
• Conduct client consultations and take instructions
• Track outstanding documentation and transaction milestones
• Provide regular client progress reports
• Attend to final accounts and transfer administration
• Resolve transaction issues and ensure matters progress efficiently
• Maintain accurate files and ensure professional compliance
• Where applicable, attend to notarial documentation and practice

Minimum Requirements

• LLB degree or equivalent recognised legal qualification
• Completion of the required Practical Vocational Training / Articles of Clerkship
• Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
• Completion of the required Legal Practice Council / professional admission requirements
• Board examinations / relevant professional examinations completed
• Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience
• Minimum 3–4 years' substantial hands-on conveyancing experience
• Strong end-to-end property transfer experience
• Practical Deeds Office lodgement and registration experience
• Experience with Transfer Duty and Rates Clearance Certificates
• Strong residential conveyancing experience
• Ability to independently manage matters from instruction through to registration

Conveyancing Qualification / Specialisation

The successful candidate should have completed the relevant Conveyancing qualification and professional requirements and be appropriately qualified to practise as a Conveyancer.
