The President Hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town, is seeking a Junior AC Technician to support maintenance, repair and basic installation of air conditioning and ventilation systems across the property.

Under the guidance of senior technicians, you will develop practical HVAC skills, help keep systems running safely, and build a career in the hospitality sector through hands-on training and diligent teamwork.

Qualifikationen

• NQF Level 3 or equivalent in Refrigeration or Air Conditioning.
• 1–2 years' relevant experience; internship or apprenticeship acceptable.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC tools and equipment.
• Physically fit and able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions under supervision.
• Good communication and a positive team attitude.

Aufgaben

• Assist with inspections and maintenance of filters, coils, condensers, compressors, motors, thermostats and ductwork.
• Clean and replace filters, grilles and air vents in guest rooms and public areas.
• Monitor system performance and report unusual noises, faults or potential failures.
• Support senior technicians with fault-finding and minor repairs under supervision.
• Learn to identify poor airflow, refrigerant issues and electrical faults.
• Participate in planned preventative maintenance and complete assigned checklists.
• Record completed tasks in OMNI or other internal maintenance systems.
• Follow safety procedures around electrical systems, refrigerants and confined spaces.
• Use PPE and follow lock-out/tag-out procedures.
• Clean and return tools after use and report damaged or missing equipment.

At The President Hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town, we're looking for a Junior AC Technician to assist with the maintenance, repair and basic installation of air conditioning and ventilation systems across the property.

Working under senior technicians, you'll develop your technical skills while helping keep HVAC systems operating safely and efficiently, with minimal disruption to guests and hotel operations.

This is a learning opportunity suited to someone who is disciplined, attentive to detail and eager to build a career in air conditioning and refrigeration.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• NQF Level 3 or equivalent in Refrigeration or Air Conditioning or currently enrolled in a relevant trade programme.
• Technical or vocational training in HVAC is preferred.
• 1-2 years' relevant experience, including an internship or apprenticeship.
• Experience within hospitality, healthcare or a large building environment is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC tools and equipment.
• Willingness to learn, follow instructions and work under supervision.
• Physically fit and able to work at heights, in ceiling spaces and confined areas.
• Good communication skills and a positive team attitude.
• A disciplined approach to safety, cleanliness and equipment care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with inspections and maintenance of filters, coils, condensers, compressors, motors, thermostats and ductwork.
• Clean and replace filters, grilles and air vents in guest rooms and public areas.
• Monitor system performance and report unusual noises, faults or potential failures.
• Support senior technicians with fault-finding and minor repairs under supervision.

• Follow safety procedures when working around electrical systems, refrigerants and confined spaces.
• Use the required personal protective equipment and follow lock-out/tag-out procedures.
• Clean and return tools after use, report damaged or missing equipment and help organise spare parts.
• Follow guest-room access procedures, entering only with supervisor permission or accompaniment and clearly announcing your department.
• Keep work areas clean and ensure tools and equipment do not obstruct guest access or walkways.
• Communicate progress to supervisors and ask for guidance when required.
• Participate in training, toolbox talks and departmental briefings.
