Job summary

The CSIR in Durban offers an internship in Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Implementation within the SHEQ portfolio. The role provides practical exposure in administrative and operational SHE tasks and is based in Durban Offices.

Responsibilities include supporting MBWAs, following up on findings and incidents, tracking CARs and risk assessments, and participating in internal and external SHEQ audits. A DOA Diploma in SHE is required.

Qualifications

• Three-year National Diploma or equivalent in one of the SHE fields.
• Knowledge of SHE Management Systems.
• Knowledge of regulatory framework like OHS Act, NEMA is an advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong administrative and report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly SHE management walkabouts (MBWAs) for all divisional/support portfolio S16.
• 2 appointees.
• Follow up on MBWA findings to meet SHE requirements.
• Follow up on all SHE incidents or non-conformities.
• Follow up on all Corrective Action Requests (CAR) and ensure CARs are raised, tracked and managed.
• Track and participate in all SHE risk assessments to ensure completion and sign-off.
• Participate in internal and external SHEQ audits.

The CSIR has an internship opportunity for Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Implementation in the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) portfolio. The purpose of this internship is to provide graduates with an opportunity to gain practical work experience through performing Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Implementation support (administrative and operational) functions. The position is based in Durban Offices.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly SHE management walkabouts (MBWAs) for all divisional/support portfolio S16
• 2 appointees
• Follow up on all MBWA findings that were recorded, reported, and adequately address to meet SHE requirements
• Follow up on all SHE incidents or non-conformity that occurred
• Follow up on all Corrective Action Requests (CAR) and ensure that all CARs are timeously raised, tracked and managed adequately
• Track and participate in all SHE risks assessments to ensure they are completed, signed off and updated
• Participate in both internal and external SHEQ audits
