We are seeking a dedicated SHE Specialist to help drive these initiatives and uphold the company's reputation for safety excellence.
Where You'll Make an Impact:
- Achieve the SHE Strategy and Operational Plan in line with set targets.
- Ensure compliance with SHE legislation including OHS Act, NEMA, ISO standards, and licensing requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain SHE policies, procedures, and management systems aligned with stakeholder and legislative requirements.
- Lead and facilitate internal and external SHE audits, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.
- Drive risk assessments, hazard identification, and impact studies to mitigate workplace hazards.
- Promote a proactive SHE culture through training, coaching, and leadership support.
- Manage incident investigations, ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Serve as the Head Office management representative for ISO systems.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities, including drills and equipment management.
- Monitor, report, and improve SHE performance through data analysis and continuous improvement practices.
Duties:
- Ensure compliance with SHE legislation and standards (OHS Act, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, NEMA).
- Lead SHE risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Develop and maintain SHE policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external certification audits.
- Drive safety training, awareness, and behavioural change programs.
- Manage emergency response plans and equipment.
- Facilitate SHE improvement initiatives and action teams.
- Monitor and report on SHE metrics and compliance.
- Support the development of a safety-oriented corporate culture.
Requirements:
- Grade 12/Matric.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or National Diploma in Safety Management.
- Internal Auditor certification for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- SAMTRAC or equivalent safety certification.
- Environmental Health and Safety qualification.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in SHE within manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of SHE legislation and standards.
- Proven ability to lead audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Leadership skills to coach and develop SHE teams.
Nice to Have:
- Additional management or leadership qualifications.
- Experience with multi-site SHE management systems.
- Advanced knowledge of environmental management practices.
