Placements24 is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel with IP expertise for our Polokwane office. You will lead IP strategy, manage registrations, and advise on licensing, technology transfer, and collaborations to protect the company's innovations.

The role requires SA-qualified attorney with 7+ years in IP law and a proven track record across patents, trademarks, and IP licensing. You will enable business growth while mitigating IP risk in a fast-growing tech environment in Limpopo.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of SA.
• Minimum 7 years post-qualification IP experience.
• Proven patent/trademark prosecution and licensing experience.
• Strong knowledge of national and international IP laws.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive IP strategies to protect innovations.
• Manage registration and prosecution of patents, trademarks globally.
• Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements (licensing, tech transfer).
• Conduct IP due diligence for acquisitions, partnerships and investments.
• Advise on patentability, freedom-to-operate and infringement issues.
• Manage IP disputes and enforcement actions.
• Provide training on IP best practices to internal teams.
• Stay updated on global IP law developments and trends.
