Job summary

Momentum Investments, part of Momentum Group in South Africa, is seeking an experienced Investment Compliance professional to oversee the implementation and maintenance of investment compliance processes. You will ensure adherence to statutory and client mandates across portfolios.

The role requires 3–5 years of compliance or risk management experience, knowledge of Regulation 28, SARB reporting, and familiarity with CIS, ASISA, and MOI contexts.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree (BCom with specialization in finance or investments, BCom Law, or LLB with applicable compliance experience) and/or compliance qualifications are required.
• An advanced qualification such as a BCom Honours, MBA, CFA, or Postgraduate Diploma in Compliance is advantageous.
• In-depth knowledge of Investment Securities and Investment Markets is essential.
• Experience with Regulation 28 and SARB asset allocation reporting is mandatory.
• At least 3–5 years of relevant compliance or risk management experience, including interpreting and applying investment limitations in areas such as Retirement Funds, Insurance Act, CISCA, ASISA, Medical Schemes Act, LISP, Asset Management, Long-Term Insurance.

Responsibilities

• Review and maintain the Investment Compliance Universe for Momentum Investments, identifying and classifying investment limitations for client accounts.
• Review and update Investment Compliance policies and maintain the Policy Register.
• Develop and monitor the Investment Compliance Monitoring Plan for the portfolio universe.
• Manage compliance breaches, including analysis, resolution, and escalation procedures.
• Ensure accurate compliance reporting and oversee outsourced compliance functions.
• Engage with regulators, internal and external stakeholders, auditors, and clients.
• Support statutory projects and regulatory reporting such as Regulation 28 and SARB QAAR.
