Job summary

Thusa Batho Labour Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Compliance Consultant (Head of Compliance) in Durban, South Africa. The role involves leading compliance strategy for a regulated financial services provider, ensuring adherence to various regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities include developing compliance policies, conducting risk assessments, and liaising with regulators. We're looking for candidates with strong experience in Compliance Management, particularly in the Financial Services sector, and relevant qualifications including proof of registration with the Compliance Institute of Southern Africa (CISA).

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years’ experience in Compliance Management highly preferred.
• Experience within the Financial Services industry is advantageous.
• Demonstrated experience in developing compliance management frameworks.

Job Title

Compliance Consultant (Head of Compliance)

Job Overview

A highly experienced Compliance Consultant will lead compliance strategy for a regulated financial services provider, ensuring adherence to FAIS, FSCA, AML/CFT and other regulatory frameworks while promoting a culture of governance, ethics and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Head of Compliance for the organisation.
• Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, frameworks, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with FAIS, FSCA, AML/CFT, and other applicable legislation.
• Manage the Risk Management and Compliance Programme (RMCP).
• Conduct compliance monitoring, reviews, and risk assessments.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports and statutory returns.
• Maintain compliance registers and monitor corrective actions.
• Provide compliance advice and training to management and staff.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and implement required changes.
• Liaise with regulators and external stakeholders.
• Promote good corporate governance and ethical business practices.
• Support internal and external compliance audits.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Law, Business Management, Compliance, or a related field.
• Relevant compliance short courses are an added advantage.
• Proof of registration or membership with the Compliance Institute of Southern Africa (CISA) is advantageous.
• Valid RE1, RE3, and RE5 certificates are required.
• Proof of authorisation as a Compliance Officer by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) is required.

Experience

• More than 6 years’ experience in Compliance Management is highly preferred.
• Candidates with 3–5 years’ relevant Compliance Management experience are also encouraged to apply.
• Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance management frameworks.
• Experience within the Financial Services industry is highly advantageous.
