Responsibilities

• Manage and review insurance claims and related documentation.
• Apply external dispute resolution guidelines when evaluating case responses.
• Apply technical dispute-resolution knowledge within the general insurance environment.
• Recommend resolution strategies, including clarifying policy terms and strengthening legal positions.
• Draft clear, accurate responses articulating the client’s position.
• Support post-submission activities, including AFCA follow-up queries and Notices of Response.
• Ensure updates align with complaint-resolution workflows.
• Interpret legal, policy, and business documentation accurately.
• Work under pressure while maintaining quality and attention to detail.

About the Role

We are seeking qualified attorneys with 3+ years of experience in insurance law, particularly those with experience handling short-term insurance claims and ombudsman complaint processes.

The successful candidates will apply their legal expertise, analytical ability, and commercial understanding to assess insurance disputes, formulate responses, and support the resolution of complex complaints.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and review insurance claims and related documentation.
• Apply external dispute resolution guidelines when evaluating and formulating case responses.
• Apply technical dispute-resolution knowledge within the general insurance environment.
• Recommend appropriate resolution strategies, including clarifying policy terms and strengthening legal positions.
• Draft clear, accurate, and professionally written responses articulating the client’s position.
• Support post-submission activities, including responding to AFCA (Australian Financial Complaints Authority) follow-up queries and preparing Notices of Response.
• Ensure accurate and timely updates in accordance with complaint-resolution workflows.
• Interpret legal, policy, and business documentation accurately.
• Work effectively under pressure while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.

What We’re Looking For

• LLB degree and admission as an attorney.
• 3+ years’ relevant experience in insurance law.
• Experience dealing with short-term insurance claims and ombudsman complaint processes.
• Strong analytical, research, and comprehension skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow structured review protocols.
• Ability to interpret complex legal and business documentation with precision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good administrative and organisational skills.
• Strong commercial acumen.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.

Highly Advantageous

• RE5 certification (Representative Regulatory Examination).
• Previous experience engaging with an insurance ombudsman.
• Experience in dispute resolution or insurance complaints handling.
• Exposure to AFCA processes or the Australian insurance environment.
