Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Civil Engineer with extensive infrastructure project experience to lead design, planning, and supervision in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The role combines technical leadership with team mentorship and client coordination across government and contractor stakeholders.

You will drive safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery, guiding junior engineers and ensuring adherence to SANS standards and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum 8 years of proven experience in the design and management of civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of road design, stormwater management, traffic engineering, and municipal services.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of civil infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, stormwater drainage, and water reticulation systems.
• Manage project lifecycles from conceptualization and feasibility studies through to detailed design, construction, and handover.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
• Oversee and mentor junior civil engineers and technical staff, providing guidance and quality control.
• Conduct site investigations, surveys, and feasibility assessments for new infrastructure projects.
• Ensure all designs and construction activities comply with relevant SANS, municipal bylaws, and environmental regulations.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities, and other consultants to coordinate project requirements and approvals.
• Manage project resources, budgets, and timelines to ensure efficient and timely project completion.
• Supervise construction activities, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to design specifications.
• Provide technical expertise and problem-solving solutions during project execution.
