Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Information Security Engineer to join its technology team in Paarl. You will design, deploy, and manage security infrastructure, monitor incidents, and help ensure resilience against cyber threats.

Responsibilities include configuring security appliances, scripts for automation, and collaboration with IT operations. A Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of experience are required, with remote work possibilities offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 3-5 years in information security engineering or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP and network security principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection).
• Implement and maintain security configurations for servers, networks and cloud environments.
• Monitor security systems and respond to alerts and incidents promptly.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and assist in penetration testing activities.
• Develop and maintain security documentation (policies, procedures, configurations).
• Collaborate with IT operations to integrate security into infrastructure changes.
• Stay current with emerging threats and technologies.
