Placements24 invites applications for a Remote Information Security Engineer to strengthen cybersecurity across our client’s digital landscape. This fully remote role supports designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced security solutions from anywhere in South Africa.

You will work independently within a distributed team, conducting security audits, incident analysis, and SDLC integration, with a focus on cloud and network security, SIEM tooling, and automation scripting.

Qualifications

• Must have bachelor's degree in IT/CS or related field.
• Proven experience as a Security Engineer or similar.
• Strong knowledge of network and cloud security, endpoints.
• Experience with scripting for automation (Python/PowerShell).
• Experience with SIEM tools and vulnerability management.
• Certs such as Security+, CySA+ or cloud security certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS.
• Develop and implement automated security solutions and scripts to enhance efficiency.
• Conduct regular security audits, risk assessments, and compliance checks across all systems.
• Investigate security alerts, analyze incidents, and provide timely remediation to minimize impact.
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security best practices into the SDLC.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of security policies, procedures, and configurations.
