Placements24 is seeking an Information Security Engineer to join our George-based team. You will protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information systems by implementing and maintaining robust security controls.

Responsibilities include designing security architectures, patch management, documenting networks, monitoring events, and conducting audits. The role offers growth in a collaborative security-focused environment in the Western Cape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in network security engineering or a similar technical security role.
• Hands-on experience with firewall configuration and management (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco).
• Proficiency in implementing and managing endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
• Knowledge of cloud security principles and best practices (AWS, Azure).
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, network protocols, and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage security technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, endpoints).
• Perform regular security patching and updates for all network devices and servers.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including network diagrams and SOPs.
• Monitor network traffic and system logs for suspicious activities and respond to security alerts.
• Conduct security audits and penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities.
• Assist in the development and execution of the incident response plan.
