Job summary
Chart Industries, Howden South Africa division, seeks a Sales Engineer in Johannesburg to deliver expert application solutions to mining and industrial clients, optimizing infrastructure and supporting new development with Howden equipment and services.
The role focuses on growing accounts, managing documentation, and driving revenue while maintaining SOX/controls compliance across projects.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5–7 years' technical sales in industrial/mining environments.
- Experience with centrifugal/axial fans and fan selection software.
- Exposure to ventilation fans and heavy engineering.
- Proven retrofit/upgrade project experience for industrial fan systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Negotiation skills and value-based selling ability.
- MS Excel and MS Projects knowledge.
- Target-driven and customer-oriented.
- Knowledge of NEC and FIDIC Yellow Book contracts.
Responsibilities
- Maintain existing clients and drive new accounts to grow business.
- Coordinate and facilitate customer inspections for equipment repairs.
- Manage sales-to-engineering documentation workflows.
- Provide weekly sales reporting with forecasts by product lines.
- Develop customer relationships to promote Howden products.
- Drive revenue growth and align actions with budget goals.
- Adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley and AX controls.
