Job summary

Howden, a Chart Industries Company, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineering sales professional in Johannesburg to lead aftermarket and retrofit projects for industrial fan systems. You will nurture client relationships, prepare tenders, coordinate inspections, and drive revenue while ensuring compliance and quality.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, 5-7 years of industrial/mining sales, and strong knowledge of centrifugal/axial fans with relevant design software.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5-7 years’ technical sales experience in an industrial and mining environment.
• Experience with centrifugal and axial fans, including fan selection software.
• Exposure to ventilation fans and heavy engineering.
• Proven track record in executing retrofit and upgrade projects for industrial fan systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – spoken and written.
• Proven ability to execute value-based selling and deliver sound solutions to customers.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft programs: MS Excel, MS Projects.
• Target-driven and customer-oriented.
• Extensive working knowledge of contracts, preferably NEC and FIDIC Yellow Book.

Responsibilities

• Sales Goals & Business Growth: Maintain existing client relationships and proactively establish new accounts to drive business growth. Secure client enquiries using both proactive and reactive sales strategies. Compile and submit client-compliant tenders for equipment repairs while promoting Howden as the preferred OEM service provider. Coordinate and facilitate customer inspections in accordance with equipment repair requirements and specific client requests.
• Documentation: Manage sales-to-engineering documentation workflows, ensuring seamless data transfer and clear alignment between the customer's requirements and the project team's execution.
• Reporting: Weekly reporting for the respective sales product lines with key figures such as industries, Sales forecast, etc. Planning of site visits in connection with Aftermarket products and service offerings
• Customer Relations: Develop customer relationships to promote the Howden products with a view to refurbishing and introducing enhancements to existing equipment. Work towards early customer involvement by becoming a partner through their respective planning phases, understanding their needs and future development plans
• Financial Accountability: Execute strategic actions to align departmental performance with business budget expectations.
• Performance Drive: Accelerate revenue growth by rigorously driving sales targets within the AFM sales department.
• Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.
