Job summary

Fusion Personnel Ltd. seeks a workshop technician to maintain production machinery and perform welding repairs in a plastics manufacturing context.

You will diagnose mechanical faults, service motors, gearboxes, bearings and drives, and minimize downtime through efficient fault finding. The role requires welding skills (MIG/TIG/Stick), preventative maintenance experience, and the ability to respond to breakdown call-outs outside normal hours.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining industrial or manufacturing machinery.
• Welding experience (MIG, TIG or Stick) for repairs and fabrication.
• Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts and mechanical drives.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and mechanical breakdowns.
• Own reliable transport is essential.
• Must reside in or close to Randburg due to breakdown call-outs.
• Trade qualification advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on production machinery
• Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns
• Carry out welding repairs and minor fabrication work
• Inspect and maintain motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts and other mechanical components
• Minimise production downtime through efficient fault finding and repairs
• Respond to occasional breakdown call-outs outside of normal working hours
• Ensure machinery is maintained in a safe and efficient operating condition
