Job summary

Boardroom Appointments is seeking a Handyman for a manufacturing environment. The role covers technical maintenance, facilities upkeep, safety compliance, and cost control. You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, supervise staff, and assist with apprentice training, while keeping quality and operational integrity at the forefront.

The position emphasizes timely repairs, use of Shop Ware for work orders, and collaboration with supervisors to minimize downtime and maintain a safe workplace.

Qualifications

• Up to 3 years of technical, maintenance, and facilities experience as a Handyman in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic computer literacy
• Knowledge of housekeeping and safety principles

Responsibilities

• Diagnose root causes of failures and execute repairs promptly.
• Implement carpentry, building, roof, and facility repairs to minimize operational disruptions.
• Apply technical and engineering standards for optimal repairs and maintenance.
• Close out maintenance job cards upon completion of work (Shop Ware).
• Identify and resolve potential process-related problems proactively.
• Provide maintenance repair reports to the Quality Assurance Engineer.
• Perform routine inspections and diagnose necessary maintenance work.
• Coordinate maintenance timing with Supervisors and Production.
• Ensure availability of parts for maintenance routines.
• Compile written reports for Quality Assurance on unusual conditions.
• Assist with training apprentices.
• Prepare training machines for corrective equipment training.
• Operate within controls and procedures to ensure the Company integrity.
• Report risks or areas of concern to management.
• Promote compliance with regulations and procedures to avoid wasteful expenditure.
• Support transparent use of financial and other resources.
• Limit expenditure, reduce costs, and report budget deviations to the manager.
• Maintain effective relationships with employees and customers.
• Solve problems with integrity in line with Company core values.
• Ensure ongoing training and development of employees.
• Address employee relations matters fairly and promptly.
