Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer for on-site operations in Tembisa, Gauteng. The role centers on production and material flow optimization across warehouses and manufacturing lines, with emphasis on data-driven improvements and scalable processes.

You will design layouts, balance lines, and implement SOPs while collaborating with IT and automation teams to deploy new solutions and drive cost reductions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years hands-on experience in industrial engineering, focusing on logistics, warehousing, or production line optimization.
• Experience with process mapping, simulation, and layout design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, and process simulation tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret complex data.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing in a logistics environment; WMS/ERP knowledge desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement optimized layouts for warehouses and production facilities to improve material flow and space utilization.
• Analyze production line balancing, throughput, and efficiency, identifying areas for improvement.
• Design and refine material handling systems, including equipment selection and implementation.
• Conduct capacity planning and forecasting to ensure adequate resources to meet demand.
• Develop and implement SOPs for material handling and production processes.
• Utilize simulation and modeling to test and validate proposed process changes.
• Collaborate with IT and automation teams to integrate new technologies into workflows.
• Track and analyze KPIs related to production efficiency, inventory accuracy, and order fulfillment times.
• Provide technical support and training to operational staff on new processes and equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and foster operational excellence.
