Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Automation Technician in Klerksdorp, North West. The role focuses on programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC, HMI, SCADA, and robotic systems to optimize production.

The ideal candidate has a degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics with 5+ years in automation. The position offers on-site and remote work elements within a hybrid setup and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

Requires a National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
Minimum 5 years in industrial automation with PLC programming, HMI and VFD control.
Experience with robot programming (Siemens/Allen-Bradley PLCs in automation context) preferred.

Responsibilities

Program, install, commission, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software issues in automated lines.
Work with robotics systems, including programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Design modifications to improve performance and efficiency.
Develop and maintain system documentation (control logic, diagrams, procedures).
Collaborate with engineering and production to identify automation opportunities and implement solutions.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Provide technical support to operators and maintenance staff; participate in shift work and on-call rotations.
